Last week I attended the Faithful to Nature product range launch at the beautiful Mount Nelson.
If you’ve followed me for a while, you’ll know that I love this little online store, who stand true to their name which sums up exactly who they are and what they believe in. Being a company that doesn’t seek popularity by saying “how can we look like we care?” but rather risk running a loss by saying “how can we care?”
Faithful to Nature from day one have had a unique ingredient policy. With this strict policy and their unwavering care, FTN ensures that every single product meticulously meets a golden eco-standard to protect the consumer and the environment. Unless a brand or product meets the criteria they will not be stocked by FTN no matter how green, wonderfully packaged or popular. Transparency and giving their customers the opportunity to make informed/empowered choices is top priority to FTN. I love this!
FTN CEO Katrien Grobler and Founder Robyn Smith addressed us at the launch and as usual, delivered some hard-hitting facts and statements.
One being one of the many statements made by 16 years old climate activist, Greta Thunberg:
“The eyes of all future generations are upon you. And if you choose to fail us I say we will never forgive you. We will not let you get away with this. Right here, right now is where we draw the line.”
For years FTN have put off taking the next step and launching their own range as they had to be sure that when they put their label on something they could stand behind the product 100% knowing that it was 100% plastic-free, sustainable and of top quality.
And on the eve of their 13th Birthday, they have finally done it, they’ve launched their own range consisting of over 220 top quality products which meet all FTN criteria and strict standards.

Their entire pantry range of dried fruits, nuts, seeds, grains and pulses are packed in bags made from plant cellulose and are 100% compostable and marine biodegradable. It may look like plastic but it sure as heck doesn’t do the damage like plastic, you can throw it on a compost heap and it’ll be gone within a month! How awesome! Also cardboard boxes are manufactured from recovered fibre, certified by the Forest Stewardship Council. Labels are 100% recycled, printed with plant-based inks and attached with eco-friendly adhesive.
Exciting products that stood out to me were their Konjac sponges made from 100% plant fibers and completely biodegradable. Do you know that your average household sponge cannot be recycled and will take up landfill space for up to 52 000 years! This sponge is apparently amazing at removing makeup and I cannot wait to give mine a try. Mine, unfortunately, did a magical little escape from my goodie bag so I went on to buy a few online.

Another goodie and first of its kind in the world is their fully 100%, bristles and all, biodegradable toothbrush. Did you know that other biodegradable toothbrushes bristles are not biodegradable? I didn’t.
And their sweet sheets, totally sustainable toilet paper made from sugar cane pulp left behind after the raw sugar has been extracted. It’s a proudly South African product, sourced from suppliers in KwaZulu Natal and is elemental chlorine-free and the inner roll is 100 percent recycled.

And there are many, many more all gradually creeping their way onto my shopping list.
Our planet is in turmoil and is groaning in pain as we destroy her. We must do something before it’s too late.
If you’d like to make a difference and do your part for the environment start with small steps, every little action makes a difference. You can start by supporting retailers and suppliers that respect and nurture the environment.
